Regents show support for ‘Healthier Nebraska’ initiative

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved a resolution on Friday to express its support for the University of Nebraska’s “Building a Healthier Nebraska” initiative.

Support for a comprehensive cancer center on the UNMC campus is among priorities of the University of Nebraska’s “Building a Healthier Nebraska” initiative. The NU Board of Regents approved a resolution to support the initiative on Friday.
Through the initiative, NU seeks $91 million from the state’s cash reserve fund to support projects that include:
  • A $370 million comprehensive cancer center at UNMC’s Omaha campus;
  • A new $17 million College of Nursing facility in Lincoln;
  • A $19 million, 30,000-square-foot addition to the Bruner Hall of Science at the University of Nebraska at Kearney to provide space for health sciences education programs; and
  • Planning and design funds for a new Veterinary Diagnostic Center at Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
