Education is one of the four pillars of UNMC’s mission and our students are the lifeblood of that aspect of campus life.
In UNMC Today’s Student Spotlight, we get to know some of these students, who will become tomorrow’s health care professionals.
Today we meet Erin Rosenbaugh, a fourth-year graduate student in the department of cellular and integrative physiology and a “bowling ball candidate” for the ice bowling contest at next week’s Skate-a-thon for Parkinson’s.

What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?
One of my best memories was in November when the UNMC Graduate Student Association hosted a campus screening of the “Ph.D. Comics.” We invited grad students from Creighton University and the University of Nebraska at Omaha and about 180 people attended. It was fun to get together with other graduate students to socialize and laugh about life in academia.
Our four brand values are leadership, commitment to excellence, working together and being a trusted resource. Pick one and tell us a time you witnessed it embodied at UNMC.
Trusted resource. As graduate students, we are required to take a course on ethics in academia — which addresses issues such as plagiarism and fabrication of data in research publications. It was one of the more valuable courses I’ve taken. This course helps ensure UNMC contributes to a trusted and reliable research workforce.
List three things people may not know about you.
- I volunteer at the Nebraska Humane Society. For about two hours a week I walk dogs in their adoption program.
- I’m the president of UNMC’s graduate student association.
- I am the third of four children. I have one brother and two sisters. Family is important to me.
