ITS will provide weekly e-Tips to help employees prepare for the new Outlook email system.
This week’s e-Tip – Important dates to remember
ITS has targeted Tuesday, March 6 as the “go live” date to convert UNMC and UNMC Physician email accounts to Microsoft Outlook.
When we “Go-Live”, faculty and staff Outlook email will likely include:
- Email dated from January 2012 to present;
- Calendar entries from January 2011 forward;
- Contacts if synched. (View video instructions or written instructions on how to sync your contacts.)
To keep any Notes data beyond the “go live” criteria, users can:
- Forward Notes email to Outlook (after go-live).
- Create personal PDF libraries (You can start this any time if you have Adobe Professional 9.0 or later and the Notes client on a PC).
- Create PST files (readable by outlook) using a System Admin tool. This may require help from your departmental system administrator.
- Contract a consultant at department’s expense to help move emails to Outlook. Pricing pending.
After the go-live date, ITS will work with each department administrator to identify unique needs beyond the go-live criteria. Specific training for those who manage calendars will be setup for February.
More communication forums will be planned in the near future. Visit the ITS website for the latest information.
