Education is one of the four pillars of UNMC’s mission and our students are the lifeblood of that aspect of campus life.
In UNMC Today’s Student Spotlight, we get to know some of these students, who will become tomorrow’s health care professionals.
Today we meet Rebecca Dogan, a graduate student in the Munroe-Meyer Institute.

What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?
My best memory is when I completed the first parent-training group course for parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), that I helped to develop at MMI. Previously we only had a social skills group for school-age children with ASD; however, now we are able to increase skill maintenance and generalization by incorporating a parent training component. The success of the program and the progress made by the parents in their ability to effectively develop their children’s social skills and better manage their overall behaviors has given me a wonderful sense of accomplishment.
Our four brand values are leadership, commitment to excellence, working together and being a trusted resource. Pick one and tell us a time you witnessed it embodied at UNMC.
The value “commitment to excellence” is visible through the actions displayed by the psychology staff at MMI on a daily basis. I feel very fortunate to work in a field with professionals who dedicate themselves to ensuring that the interventions applied are effective and evidence-based.
List three things people may not know about you.
- I have walked on the Great Wall of China and explored the pyramids in Egypt.
- Ninety percent of my diet consists of turkey sandwiches and protein bars. The only thing I can actually cook is Thai red curry chicken.
- Although I was born in San Jose, Calif., I have moved consistently every three or four years since I was 5.
We are lucky to have you here at MMI!
