Skate-a-thon for Parkinson’s returns to campus Jan. 27-28, volunteers sought

The second-annual UNMC Skate-a-thon for Parkinson’s will take place at the campus ice rink on Jan. 27-28.









The “Thriller Crew” will be back on the ice at this year’s UNMC Skate-a-thon for Parkinson’s, which returns to the campus ice rink on Jan. 27-28.
What: The event is a 24-ice skating marathon designed to raise funds for Parkinson’s disease research. Last year’s event raised $40,000. The goal this year is to raise $100,000.

When: 5 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Highlights: From another performance from the guys who brought you “Thriller on Ice” (see video) and a late night “skivvy skate” to carriage rides off the ice, the event schedule is packed with fun happenings.

Registration: Registration cost is $10 per person and skaters are encouraged to seek pledges to raise more money for time skated.

Help wanted: Volunteers are sought to help put on the event. Register online to volunteer.
