Jyothi Arikkath, Ph.D., receives her year-one funding check from Duane Gross, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Midlands Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Dr. Arikkath’s research involves the synaptic pathology of the disease.
Below is a list of achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students.

Diplomas will be conferred on 356 UNMC students during ceremonies this week in Kearney, Lincoln, Omaha and Scottsbluff. During today’s ceremony in Omaha, the College of Public Health will bestow a diploma to its 100th MPH graduate.

Jyothi Arikkath, Ph.D., of the developmental neuroscience department at the Munroe-Meyer Institute, received year one funding for a two-year, $100,000 grant from the Alzheimer’s Association. Dr. Arikkath’s research project is titled, “Cooperation of d-catenin and presenilin in the synpatic pathology of Alzheimer’s Disease.”
