Spirit Week 2011 – Scavenger hunt, Spirit Lunch and more ugly sweaters

The Spirit Week Scavenger Hunt gets underway at 11:15 a.m. today and the Spirit Lunch kicks off shortly thereafter at 11:30 a.m. Both events start in the Truhlsen Campus Events Center in the Sorrell Center.

The winners of the Northern Division Ugly Sweater contest were, from left: Abbie Gilsdorf, second runner up; Tracy Johnson, Miss Ugly 2011; Kayla Grint, first runner up; and honorable mentions are Natalie Schott and Riley Ohde — otherwise known as the “Grumpy & Happy Elf Twins.”

During the hunt, teams of three or four people will depart from the events center in search of several campus landmarks and treasures.

Spirit Week Volunteers will be stationed near each hunt item and will sign off on checklists to confirm teams have found the various items.

The first three teams to complete the hunt will receive prizes.

Lunch and music

Employees are urged to come to the lunch for free pizza and a holiday concert by the UNMC Musical Society. The concert starts at 12:15 p.m.

Ugly sweaters up north

As we sported our ugly sweaters on the Omaha campus on Wednesday, so did the folks up at the College of Nursing-Northern Division in Norfolk, as is evidenced in the photo above. See more photos from the Northern Division Ugly Sweater Contest at the UNMC Facebook page.

Broomball champs

Kappa Psi’s Parophagiacs from the College of Pharmacy topped Thumpin and Pumpin from the School of Allied Health Professions 2-0 on Thursday to win the second annual Spirit Week Student Broomball Tournament.
