Climate science topic of Dec. 6 Omaha Science Cafe

Climate science is the topic of the next Science Café on Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Slowdown, 729 N. 14th St. in Omaha. Attendees will hear from Andrew Jameton, Ph.D., a professor in the department of health promotion, social and behavioral health in the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
 
Dr. Jameton’s main areas of expertise are in the philosophy and ethics of environmental health. He is currently teaching and conducting research on global ethical issues in health care and public health, such as equality, environment, ecological medicine, and global climate change.
 
Dr. Jameton serves on the medical ethics committee, the institutional review board, the ethics consultation service, and the pharmacy and therapeutics committee at UNMC. He is a co-founder and board member of City Sprouts, a community gardening and sustainability education project. He received a degree in psychology from Harvard University and a degree in philosophy from the University of Washington.
 
Science Café is a free educational event sponsored by the University of Nebraska Medical Center and other groups to increase the population’s science literacy. Hosted by UNMC, Bio Nebraska and the Nebraska Coalition for Lifesaving Cures, Science Cafés are held the first Tuesday of each month in Omaha and one Thursday every other month in Lincoln.
