Below is a list of achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students.

James Gigantelli, M.D., professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences, has been elected as one of 10 region chiefs on the newly formed Regional Coordinating Committee of the Health Policy and Advocacy Council of the American College of Surgeons. He will be the region chief for the five-state area that includes Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa and Missouri.

Ann Berger, Ph.D., professor in the College of Nursing, has received the Alumni Merit Award from the Creighton University School of Nursing. Dr. Berger received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Creighton in 1971. She was recognized for her research work into fatigue, particularly as it relates to cancer and chemotherapy.

William Lawlor, director of the office of financial compliance and cost analysis, was a presenter and instructor at the National Conference on College Cost Accounting in Atlanta earlier this month. Lawlor served as co-instructor at a half-day pre-conference class for administrators titled “Facilities and Administrative Rates Basics,” and was a conference presenter for the session titled “Current Issues Impacting F&A Rates.”
