Where: Durham Outpatient Center West Atrium

Who: Susie Thorne — a Hastings native — is the daughter of a classically trained vocalist and a professional trumpet player who performed with jazz greats Lionel Hampton and Gerry Mulligan. Thorne herself studied piano performance at University of Colorado at Denver and vocal studies at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Boulder, Colo., and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Why: Thorne’s performance is part of the Music as Medicine Concert Series. Music as Medicine concerts are free and are held on the third Thursday of each month with the exception of October and November, when the concerts will be on the second week of the month.

Patients and families, staff, students and the community are invited to bring lunch and enjoy a fabulous concert, which is sponsored by UNMC’s Office of the Chancellor.
