“Hope” was announced as the name of the campus art feature at the Tuesday dedication ceremony for the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza.
Darwin Brown submitted “Hope Tower” as a suggestion for a name for the campus art feature. His suggestion led to the tower being named “Hope.” |
Brown’s suggestion was the first received among 18 that included the word “Hope.” In all, employees generated 235 suggestions for possible names for the art feature, which was created by world-renowned artist James Carpenter.
The art feature was brought to campus thanks to a gift by Ruth and Bill Scott.
At night, “Hope” will be visible thanks to lights that have been installed at its base.
An official lighting ceremony was held Tuesday evening and Ruth Scott was the first to “shine the light” on Hope.
