UNMC invites nurses interested in pursuing administration, leadership master’s degree to Sept. 12-14 sessions in Scottsbluff, Alliance, Kearney

Nurses interested in pursuing master’s degrees in nursing administration and leadership can attend informational sessions next week. The sessions will be held by the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing in Scottsbluff, Alliance and Kearney.
The master’s degree program, called the Nurse Leader Executive Advanced Development (LEAD), uses the Internet and other distance technologies and is tailored for Nebraska nurses working in rural settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, acute care facilities and long term care facilities.
UNMC College of Nursing professors Karen Grigsby, Ph.D., and Teresa Hultquist, Ph.D., will present information about the programs and answer questions.

Nurses can access the program as a part-time or full-time student in one of three ways — an accelerated registered nurse to master’s degree in nursing program, a traditional bachelor’s degree to master’s degree or a post-master’s certificate.
The goal is to expand the number of registered nurses with advanced preparation in administration and leadership. The specialty program provides opportunities for nurse leaders to develop knowledge and skill to improve the work environment and help nurses at the bedside deliver the best possible care.
