Today we meet Emily Hill Bowman, a fourth-year medical student and subintern in the UNMC Primary Care Program.
- Name: Emily Hill Bowman
- Hometown: Omaha
What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?
I will never forget the first day of medical school in the anatomy lab. I was so nervous. I’m still great friends with my lab group. Then, over two spring breaks I was a part of a medical mission trip to Macy, Neb., on the Omaha Reservation. It was such a great experience to work with a community in need that is so close to where we live. Finally, one of my best moments was two months ago when I started in the Primary Care Program and had my first clinic. That day put into perspective how far we have come from the first day of medical school.
Our four brand values are leadership, commitment to excellence, working together and being a trusted resource. Pick one and tell us a time you witnessed it embodied at UNMC.
I see all of these values in my classmates. It is great to be a part of a group that you trust and look up to. They will represent UNMC well throughout the country next year.
List three things people may not know about you.
- I worked as a coffeehouse barista through college.
- One of my favorite vacations was a Nebraska-South Dakota road trip — canoeing the Niobrara, camping in the Black Hills, gambling at Deadwood, fossils at Agate, and of course the Corn Palace!
- Until recently, I thought lightsaber was light-saver. Oops!
