What stood out about your tour of UNMC?
We work on a lot of legislation related to health care and we receive and review a lot of data. It’s totally different when you come and see how it works. We talked to a parent who was tearing up when talking about her son and the help he had received from the pediatric feeding program. No piece of data can provide that perspective. It was amazing.
What are the biggest health care issues that face the state and how do you see UNMC helping the state confront them?
Generally, I’m appreciative of UNMC and the information that the university provides to us. That information has helped us to protect stem cell research. Right now, we’re trying to work on some legislation for autism, as many of the services aren’t covered by insurance.
