Online campus calendar coming soon

In the coming weeks, UNMC will roll out a new campus calendar that will serve as a centralized site for all campus happenings.

The calendar will be an automated system that will allow individuals to post, edit, remove and update their own announcements for events covering topics such as:

• Employee news;
  
• Student news;
  
• Academic deadlines and dates;
  
• Grand rounds and seminars;
  
• Arts, entertainment and community events;
  
• Events open to the public;
  
• Employee training and professional development opportunities; and
  
• Health and wellness activities.

“The calendar will be a powerful new tool that will help internal and external audiences track and add to the list of various events that take place on this campus everyday,” said Bill O’Neill, interim director of public relations.

Upon its launch, the new calendar will replace the current announcement system used in UNMC Today. The daily UNMC Today email will link to the new calendar to display the upcoming events in the categories listed above.

The campus calendar will help people plan and find campus happenings and reduce instances of conflicting events.

Later in the year, departments and units will be able to include customized views of the new calendar on their individual websites that pertain specifically to their department events.
