The team made the trip to meet with organizations and community members to listen to their concerns and learn how UNMC can better serve the people of Nebraska.

“The trip is my favorite trip of the year,” Dr. Maurer said. “It’s a chance to visit with people and learn about their ideas for how UNMC can better serve the state.”

The UNMC group discussed recent successes such as the opening of the Harold M. and Beverly Maurer Center for Public Health and UNMC’s No. 7 primary care ranking in the latest U.S.News and World Report listing of the nation’s top graduate schools.

Health care reform and its impact also was addressed at the community discussions.
