The Big Splash, a recreational and competitive swimming fundraiser that has raised more than $50,000 for children and adults with disabilities, returns to Omaha on Saturday, Aug. 27.
Who: The event brings together swimmers of all abilities and ages to compete in a variety of races and relays for recreational, competitive, adaptive and assisted swimmers.

Where: Competitive events will be held at Millard West High School Pool (5710 S. 176th Ave.). Lunch with Olympic swimmer Kathleen Hersey will follow at the school. A Family Swim & Splash Party will be held at Rockbrook Swimming Pool (10800 W. Center Road).
When:
- Competitions — 8 a.m. to noon;
- Lunch with Olympian Kathleen Hersey — noon; and
- Swim party — 1 to 3 p.m.
Cost: $25 per participant for any combination of events, including the swim party. All swimmers receive a Big Splash T-shirt, free admission to the Swim & Splash party and free lunch. Lunch is $5 for non-participants. Scholarships are available for adaptive and assisted swimmers. To apply, contact a Big Splash representative at 402-502-0300.
