Describe your research in laymen’s terms.
My research is focused on understanding how HIV and its proteins can synergize with drugs of abuse to cause more severe damage in the brain
How does your research contribute to science and/or health care?
My research will help understand the molecular pathways of neuronal toxicity, thus leading to the development of therapies targeting specific checkpoints of the pathway.

Under the guidance of Dr. Shilpa Buch, I started climbing my academic research career. From her, I learned how to manage the lab as a great team. I learned how to be a good human being in addition to being a good scientist and also learned how to accept manuscript/grant rejections. She taught me how to work hard and play hard. Of course, I also owe my success to the members of our lab.
List three things few people know about you.
- I got first place in a 100-meter running test.
- I like swimming, which makes one feel fresh after whole day’s lab work.
- I enjoy good drink with good friends.
