UNMC Japan relief planning meeting today
UNMC will begin organizing its response to the Japanese earthquake disaster at a meeting today in the Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education.
When: Registration at 5:30 p.m., meeting at 6 p.m.
Where: Sorrell Center Maisie Paustian Amphitheater, Room 3001.

Who: Shinobu Watanabe-Galloway, Ph.D., professor of epidemiology in UNMC’s College of Public Health, and campus and local leaders will head up the meeting and begin plans for a coordinated relief effort for Japan, which was hit by a devastating 9.0-magnitude earthquake and massive tsunami on March 11.
Speakers are:
- George Behringer, honorary consul general of Japan;
- Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle;
- Ayman El-Mohandes, M.B.B.Ch., M.P.H., dean of College of Public Health;
- David Crouse, Ph.D., interim vice chancellor of academic affairs; and
- Kazuhito Sakamoto, Ph.D., research assistant professor, Eppley Cancer Institute.
The meeting is open to the public.
