What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?
The best memory I have, so far, is getting to witness the removal of a tumor behind the carotid artery. This was my first experience in a surgery clinical and the two surgeons let me get on a giant step stool to watch the whole process. They took the time to explain every step.
Our four brand values are leadership, commitment to excellence, working together and being a trusted resource. Pick one and tell us a time you witnessed it embodied at UNMC.
I think that the professors and additional staff here at UNMC-Scottsbluff demonstrate all four of these values every day. I was very hesitant about coming so far out west for school, but now I would not trade my experience for anything. I have never before been in an education setting where I have been so comfortable with all of the staff. I can truly tell that they all love what they do and they have been such an inspiration to us students.
List three things people may not know about you.
- I regularly submit myself to “retail therapy.”
- I am the worst basketball player ever, but it’s my favorite sport to watch. Go Lakers!
- When I was about one, my grandma was supposed to be babysitting me and my cousin, who is a year older than me. My cousin fed me almost a whole bottle of baby Tylenol and my grandma had to rush me to the emergency room to have my stomach pumped. I never let either my cousin or my grandma forget this.
