Next week on St. Patrick’s Day at 11 a.m., 110 members of the University of Nebraska Medical Center medical students will learn where they will do their residency training during Match Day.
Match Day is a national event being held at medical schools at 11 a.m. across the United States. The information is secret until then. Earlier in the year, students entered their choices for residency training locations into a national computer database.
Next to graduation, Match Day is one of the most exciting and anxious moments in a medical student’s life. Many of the students will have family and friends present. The students will graduate in May then spend the next three to six years in their chosen medical specialty.
