UNMCP’s Cory Shaw named to AAMC advisory panel

Cory Shaw, CEO of UNMC Physicians, has been invited to join the Association of American Medical College’s (AAMC) Advisory Panel on Health Care.

The advisory panel is a long-standing group composed of 15 to 20 leaders from AAMC member teaching hospitals and medical schools that has addressed various issues relevant to the academic medicine missions of patient care delivery, education and research.

Last year, the panel provided input and made recommendations on a number of issues, particularly related to the effect of health care reform implementation. The panel’s input contributed significantly to the policy positions, directions and activities of the AAMC.

“As an academic medical center in Nebraska, it’s important that we take leadership roles and think innovatively about health care reform,” said Rodney Markin, M.D., Ph.D., interim dean of the College of Medicine. “Cory’s appointment to this committee is one more way we can make sure that UNMC is providing input, giving guidance and participating in discussions on how health care reform will impact our community.”
