As the UNMC Skate-a-thon for Parkinson’s winds down on Saturday afternoon, the old-school skate party action will heat up.
|
- The Egg Roll — a contest in which skaters race across the ice while carrying hard-boiled eggs on spoons. The first one to finish the course with an unscathed egg wins.
- A figure eight contest that challenges skaters to complete the best figure eight.
- Four corners — an elimination game similar to musical chairs.
- Red light, green light — in which skaters stop and go based on the commands of “a policeman.” Incorrectly stopping or going puts skaters back at the starting line and the first skater to reach the officer wins.
The skate games will be emceed by KMTV Channel 3’s Carol Wang.
The skate party continues during the 5 p.m. hours as everyone will be called on to the ice for an “All-Skate,” which will lead up to the skate-a-thon’s closing ceremony at 6 p.m. Omaha World-Herald columnist Michael Kelly will emcee the closing ceremony.
