Marsha Morien, chief administrative officer of UNMC Computer Assisted Surgery, recently received the American College of Healthcare Executives Service Award for her contributions to excellence in health care management.

Students at the College of Nursing divisions in Lincoln, top, and Norfolk recently donated food to their local Harvest for Hunger drives.

Iona Dumitru, M.D., associate professor of internal medicine, recently became the first physician in Nebraska to receive American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Certification for Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation.

Eight accelerated nursing students from the UNMC College of Nursing West Nebraska Division in Scottsbluff and three UNMC family medicine residents in Scottsbluff recently participated in an interdisciplinary forum and simulation at the college’s simulation lab. Tracy Meyer, chief flight nurse at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, presented an interactive presentation in which she led a review of normal and abnormal heart and lung sounds. The students and residents also practiced in a Mega Code. Each Mega Code guided the participants through scenarios where they made care decisions.

The Student Nurses Association at the College of Nursing-Norfolk division collected 200 items for the Harvest for Hunger drive while Level 2 nursing students in Lincoln collected a barrel of food for the drive.
