When I first started working at UNMC, I had the opportunity to tour the rare book collection at the McGoogan Library. … I remember seeing a first edition copy of “On the Origin of Species” by Charles Darwin and thinking to myself how wonderful it is that science has progressed as far as it has, and how far we still can go.
Our four brand values are leadership, commitment to excellence, working together and being a trusted resource. Pick one and tell us about a time you witnessed it embodied at UNMC.
I witness UNMC being a trusted resource almost every day. The local and national media sources that I read frequently quote or prominently feature an expert from UNMC. Great work is done here. The local community knows it, Nebraskans know it and I think the rest of the country knows it.
List three things people may not know about you.
- During college I worked at a shelter for women and children who were escaping domestic violence. I learned so much about life from this job.
- I worked in Washington, D.C., for two different members of Congress from Nebraska — one in the House of Representatives and the other in the Senate.
- I sold machines to telephone, cable television and power companies that helped the companies find faults in their lines. The best part of this job was that my territory was Europe. I traveled for two weeks at a time to at least four countries each trip. I took such trips about every six weeks. It was so much fun.
I have had several opportunities working with Heidi, on her printing projects. Very organized and skilled, plus she has a smile that will brighten your day, a lotta fun! Congrats Heidi!!!
What a nice surprise to see Heidi featured today! She is wonderful to work with and represents so well UNMC's values.
Heidi is a testimony of the many great UNMC employees we have and is highly appreciated at the College of Nursing. Her work with the General Staff Organization (GSO) within our college has helped employee communications and staff development efforts.
