Former Husker/motivational speaker Aaron Davis to headline MLK event

Aaron Davis — a sought after motivational speaker with keen insights into human potential and teamwork — will deliver a commemorative address on the UNMC campus on Monday, Jan. 17, to honor slain civil rights leader, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Davis’ speech, which is sponsored by UNMC and The Nebraska Medical Center, will be in the Storz Pavilion, lower level of Clarkson Tower, The Nebraska Medical Center. It is titled, “His dream. Our responsibility.”

His speaking and consulting firm, Aaron Davis Presentations, Inc., received the Omaha Chamber of Commerce “Outstanding Minority Owned Business” award and Toastmasters International awarded him the “Communication and Leadership Award.” He also serves as the Chief Operations Officer of the Thomas Group.




“We are pleased to bring a champion and passionate, successful leader back to the medical center,” said Myrna Newland, M.D., director of UNMC’s Equity Office and coordinator of the Martin Luther King Day Commemoration Committee. “I believe our campus can look forward to a unique experience.”

The annual address is regularly one of the city’s best attended events on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This year, the event starts at noon, is free and open to the public.

Davis — a member of the 1994 national champion Nebraska football team — has shared his insights on the possibility of human potential with more than one million people throughout the world. He also authored the book, “10 Minute Truths,” and is the co-author of two others.
