Spirit Week 2010 – Team Marsh wins first ‘Golden Broom’

Team Marsh — the winners of the first UNMC Spirit Week Student Broomball Tournament — celebrate with the Golden Broom at the campus ice rink on Friday.

Team Marsh, led by third-year medical student Tony Marsh, took home the Golden Broom after winning 1-0 in a shootout on Friday during the finals of the inaugural UNMC Spirit Week Student Broomball Tournament at the campus ice rink.

In the finals, Team Marsh beat the Osteoclasts, a team of first-year medical students led by Joseph Kent.

For winning the 12-team tournament, Team Marsh takes home four tickets to a University of Nebraska at Omaha Hockey Game thanks to the University of Nebraska Foundation and a $25 gift card to Barrett’s Barleycorn Pub and Grill to go along with the Golden Broom.
