I was very impressed with the expansion and all that UNMC has to offer. I think anyone who has the opportunity to tour would come away with a sense of how comprehensive the UNMC program is.
What are the biggest health care issues that face the state and how do you see UNMC helping Nebraska confront these issues?
After a recent education executive meeting, I am once again reminded of our difficult financial situation. I think UNMC is, like all other concerns receiving state funding, in a position of being very diligent about any possible cuts. This is going to be a long, tough session and everyone is going to have concerns about how cuts are made. With revenue down, the money isn’t available that we had the past few years. Hopefully, things will improve in the future.
