“I would strongly encourage our investigators to attend this workshop as it will feature very valuable information that can help and protect them in their work with animals,” said Tom Rosenquist, Ph.D., vice chancellor for research.

Irving Zucker, Ph.D., professor and chairman of the department of cellular and integrative physiology and one of the workshop organizers, will lead a panel discussion as part of the workshop.

“Animal research is a key component to the health of any academic institution’s research infrastructure,” Dr. Zucker said. “This workshop will help ensure our investigators are armed with the information, resources and tools necessary to conduct such research.”

Notable national and local speakers will provide important insight into institutional responsibility, new federal guidelines and threats to the use of animals in research.
