The photos above illustrate some quick four pound food combos found in many pantries.
According to a former journalist’s questionable math skills, if every UNMC employee brought in four pounds of food for the campus food drive, which ends Monday, we would smash our goal of collecting six tons — or 12,000 pounds.

Most of us could probably gather four pounds of food in our pantries pretty quick.

What’s in four pounds a food? Well, the pictures on the right illustrate some four-pound combos of food you could probably compile in your own pantries.

So on your way to work tomorrow, grab an old shopping bag, toss in a few cans of veggies, fruit, tuna or maybe a box of cereal, then drop the bag into one of the collection buckets on campus.

Drop-off buckets have been placed at:

  • The Durham Research Center;
  • The Munroe-Meyer Institute (just inside the yellow canopy);
  • The Student Life Center (south entrance);
  • College of Nursing commons area;
  • Wittson Hall entrance;
  • 4230 Building, north entrance; and
  • Sorrell Center commons area.
