Husker fans remember what happened last year.
I tell people that Lord Voldemort put a cruciatus curse on the Huskers. (EDITOR’S NOTE: Sorry, really excited about the new Harry Potter movie.)
Public relations’ Nicole Lindquist and her husband, Rob, bask in the glow of Iowa State’s 9-7 win over Nebraska last fall. |
PR’s Nicole Lindquist, an ISU alumnus, was in Memorial Stadium that day. She’ll be at Jack Trice Stadium on Saturday hoping for a repeat performance.
Before that, she’ll be a guest panelist for us, joining our regulars, Jeffrey Hill, M.D., Lisa Runco and Chad Kelsay and Kyle Ringenberg, M.D., in picking the Huskers and the Cyclones.
Lindquist says, “Iowa State beat Texas (in Austin) who beat Nebraska (at home. Badly. Seriously, it was not pretty). Since I’m a journalism major and my math is not good, this to me means a Cyclone victory on Saturday. (Nevermind the fact that Iowa State got killed by Oklahoma, who lost to Missouri, who lost to Nebraska). Yes, Nebraska turned the ball over last year. But someone forced (a majority of) those turnovers. And it wasn’t Harry Potter. Cyclones win.” Iowa State 10, NU 7

Team Runco/Kelsay says, “We have too much to play for to let something like last year happen again, all of our goals are still within reach. Iowa State has a tough squad that plays hard, but we believe our guys will be ready. We don’t believe it will be a total blowout, but we should handle them fairly well.” NU 27, Iowa State 13
Dr. Ringenberg says, “Some fear a NU letdown after a key victory against Missouri. I don’t. NU remembers all too well the 9-7 debacle in Lincoln last year. The Cyclones play hard and have had a couple of decent wins this year, but they will not be able to keep up for four quarters.” NU 34, Iowa State 16
Truth is, my Clones are big underdogs and that's just how they like to be. If things don't go Iowa State's way in the first half, Paul "I'm SO PROUD" Rhoads can just put in our backup QB, Jerome Tiller, and a backup running back since both Arnaud and ARob were out last year, and the Cyclones STILL won.
NO REPEAT!! NU 52 ISU14
I am SO PROUD to know Nicole Lindquist, but I'm afraid she is so, so wrong on this one. Go Big Red!
