The Chancellor’s Council recently adopted a document that prioritizes UNMC’s academic programs.
The document, called the Prioritization of Academic Programs, focuses on existing and emerging areas of excellence rather than colleges, schools, institutes or other traditional organizations within UNMC.

Dr. Adams noted that the document was first adopted in 2001 and was amended in 2005 and 2008. Each of these revisions reflects UNMC’s success in initiating and improving the educational, research and outreach programs in targeted in UNMC’s strategic plan that is updated annually.
Among the new areas identified in this year’s Prioritization of Academic Programs are:
- Several doctoral programs associated with the College of Public Health; and
- UNMC’s institutional partnerships with leading universities in China, Russia, India and Afghanistan.
This year’s document also includes an appendix that lists 11 criteria that may be used to evaluate the academic programs.
