Amarnath Natarajan, Ph.D.
My team has created a compound that targets a pathway that is implicated in a variety of cancers. Our compound shuts down this pathway and kills cancer cells.

How does your research contribute to science and/or health care?

Ultimately we want to use our compound to create new treatments and therapies for cancer.

How did UNeMed help you and what were you able to accomplish because of their support?

UNeMed is helping me patent the compound and will help me market it to outside companies. Before I came to UNMC, I was at Harvard and at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. I worked with technology transfer groups at both those institutions. My experience with UNeMed has been by far the best of all these relationships. UNeMed really keeps me in the loop throughout the whole process and they work hard to put resources together to see my work succeed. It’s been a really fun experience.
