What do Allied Health’s Fran Higgins, Public Relations’ Liz Kumru and the UNMC Musical Society have in common?
Answer — they all will perform next week at the inaugural Talent Tuesday — a new event that lets employees and students share their talents with the campus community.
What is Talent Tuesday?
It’s a one-hour talent show that allows employees and students to showcase their talents for the rest of us in a fun and inclusive environment.
When is it?
As the name suggests, it will be on Tuesdays every couple months. The shows will run from noon to 1 p.m. Dates for the first few installments are on the right.

Bennett Hall, Room 2020. The room only seats 40 people so come early and bring your lunch!
Who will perform?
- Higgins will kick off Talent Tuesday with a half-hour set of her special blend of Celtic, rock and folk music.
- Kumru will tell a doozy of a ghost story, which she says is true, by the way.
- To wrap things up, the UNMC Musical Society — a group of student and employee musicians — will perform choral and orchestral music.
What kind of talents are welcomed?
It’s pretty open but a certain degree of discretion will be exercised in selecting acts to make sure they are appropriate and not offensive in nature. We’ve already got jugglers, a harpist, poets, a Marionette artist and assorted musicians on the radar screen to perform at future events.
“I have a talent I want to share,” or, “I know someone who does.”
Awesome! Send an e-mail to today@unmc.edu and someone will contact you about possibly performing in an upcoming Talent Tuesday.
