Quick, think of five things others should know about you.
That’s the theme behind a series in UNMC Today called “Lookin’ at U.”
Each Thursday, we randomly select a medical center employee to feature.
This week, we feature Kim Minino, telecom analyst in ITS video services.
Here, in her own words, are five fun facts about Kim:
Kim Minino |
- I am an Air Force Brat. I was born in Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington and lived in Massachusetts, South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana.
- My parents had six kids in 5 1/2 years.
- When I was 18 I joined the 82nd Field Hospital, Army Reserves. Basic training wasn’t hard for me but going into the gas chamber wasn’t one of my better days because my gas mask was too large.
- The year I turned 40 I found out that I had melanoma, which I caught early by telling the doctor to just remove the mole that they thought was fine.
- In 2002 I was honored with the Chancellor’s Gold “U” Award. Chancellor (Harold M.) Maurer (M.D.) asked all the Gold “U” winners to help raise money for the American Heart Association. Out of the Gold “U” participants, I received the award for the most money raised by an individual.
- This year my husband and I have been married 34 years. We have two bright adult children that really make us proud. Our daughter, Amanda, lives in Atlanta and graduated from Georgia Tech. Our son, Phillip, lives in Muscatine, Iowa, and graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from UNL.
