Learn about Latin music and dance on Sept. 22
Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month on Wednesday, Sept. 22 as UNMC and the Durham Museum welcome UNO Professor Josie Metal-Corbin for a noon program featuring music and dance.

The lecture is offered through the Time Travelers partnership, which provides free museum admission for medical center employees, students, and their immediate family with valid identification, while also offering lectures, workshops and other events on the medical center campus.

Bring your lunch and be introduced to the historical influence of the rhythms, dances and music of the Caribbean and the Americas and learn how Latin culture has influenced everyday life in the United States. The event starts at noon in the Sorrell Center Student Plaza. The seminar will be in the Sorrell Center, Room 2010 if the weather is poor.
Latin Line Dance from experienced demonstrators will include:
- The Salsa;
- Merengue;
- Bachata; and
- The Cha Cha Cha.
Spanish words and phrases will be used to teach the etiquette and dance patterns. The event will include historical Latin Jazz compositions and also contemporary dance music selections.
