Each Thursday, we randomly select a medical center employee to feature.
This week, we feature Chris Allmon, administrator, Center for Drug Delivery and Nanomedicine and COBRE Nebraska Center for Nanomedicine.
Here, in her own words, are five fun facts about Chris:

- I have an extremely large extended family — 12 uncles, four aunts and more than 50 first cousins at last count. Our heritage is diverse and the subject of many debates. We are all surprisingly close considering the size of our family.
- I grew up on the family farm, raising cattle and pigs. Because of my experiences, I detest all things pork, but still love to eat a good steak. My daughter and I still spend many weekends on the farm, helping with the cattle and riding our horses. My parents recently purchased nine pigs as a “project” for the grandchildren and to traumatize their daughters.
- I was the 1995 Rodeo Queen of the Woodbine, Iowa, rodeo. It was a great experience, and yes, I still have my tiara.
- I went to school at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, where I worked for both the Iowa football team (Go Hawks!) and bartended at the Biggest Bar in the Big Ten. While bartending, I met Tom Arnold (excellent tipper) and knew Ashton Kutcher (big dork) before he was famous.
- I just got back from vacation in Vail, Colo., where we managed to hike to the top of Vail Mountain — all six-plus miles of it.
