The Big Splash, a recreational and competitive swimming fundraiser that raised more than $30,000 for children and adults with disabilities in 2009, returns to Omaha on Saturday, Aug. 21.
Who: The event brings together swimmers of all abilities and ages to compete in a variety of races and relays for recreational, competitive, adaptive and assisted swimmers.
Why: Proceeds raised support UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) programs for individuals with diverse disabilities.

When:
- Competitions — 8 a.m. to noon; and
- Swim party — 1 to 3 p.m.
Cost: $25 per participant for any combination of events, including the the swim party. All swimmers receive a Big Splash T-shirt and swim cap. Scholarships are available for adaptive and assisted swimmers. To apply, contact a Big Splash representative at (402) 502-0300.
