Jessica Mercer, Ph.D., UNMC’s editorial grants associate, has seen excellent, well-funded investigators struggle to write proposals under the new National Institutes of Health guidelines.
“It became clear to me that a tutorial of some kind was needed,” Dr. Mercer said.

She will host just such a workshop for the campus on Aug. 25 in the Sorrell Center, Room 1005 from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
The seminar will be videostreamed to the College of Nursing and Dentistry campuses and it will be recorded and posted after the session on the IT for Researchers User Group web page.
The talk is part of the Researchers Users Group seminar series and will be useful to grant seekers of all levels.
Dr. Mercer will discuss:
- Tips on formatting your NIH grant;
- How to package and present your grant;
- Using an effective writing style and tone; and
- Organizing the sections of your grant.
