The Home Instead Center – by the numbers

Two minutes, 42 seconds.

That’s how long it took a healthy, 33-year-old male to walk from the Durham Outpatient Center parking lot to the current geriatric clinic in University Tower.

Tours and webcast

Campus community members can tour the Home Instead Center before today’s ceremony starting at 9 a.m.

The general public can tour the center on Saturday during an open house event from 1 to 3 p.m.

Today’s ceremony will be webcast at the Home Instead Center’s website.

Ten seconds. That’s how long it took the same person to walk from the parking lot to the front door of the new Home Instead Center for Successful Aging.

That’s just one of the convenient aspects of the new center, which will provide a one-stop location for comprehensive medical and psychiatric care for seniors.

The center is named for Home Instead Senior Care, the world’s largest provider of non-medical home care for seniors.

Citing a shared vision with UNMC, the company’s founders, Paul and Lori Hogan made the lead gift to construct the new center, which will be the site of a grand opening event today at 10:30 a.m.
