A week from today, UNMC will celebrate the opening of the Home Instead Center for Successful Aging.
Here we profile the newest addition to the UNMC campus.

Why: With a full wellness center to go along with plentiful clinic space, the center will provide a broad spectrum of care to help Nebraskans maintain active and independent lifestyles as they age.
Who: Health care professionals in every discipline will work together in the center to ensure patients receive the latest and best care.
Where: The 31,425 square-foot building sits on the northwest corner of 38th Avenue and Leavenworth Street.
When: Employees and students can tour the new facility on Monday, July 26 from 9 to 10 a.m. The tours will precede a grand-opening ceremony, which is set for 10:30 a.m. A public open house at the new facility is set for Saturday, July 31 from 1 to 3 p.m. The clinic opens to the public on Sept. 13. Other notes: The $10.2 million center was funded entirely by private donations. The lead gift was made by Paul and Lori Hogan, founders of Home Instead Senior Care, the world’s largest provider of non-medical home care for senior. Other donors include:
- The Barney and Vada Kinman Oldfield Foundation;
- Deryl and Ramona Hamann; and
- Mrs. Virginia Grissom, widow of longtime UNMC faculty member Robert Grissom, M.D.
