The inaugural OwL (Omaha with Lights) bike ride, a nighttime cycling adventure, will be held on Saturday at 11 p.m.
Proceeds benefit the Meyer Foundation for Disabilities, a supporter of UNMC’s Munroe-Meyer Institute and its adult recreation therapy program.
The ride consists of a16 mile route through the downtown, midtown, Dundee, Aksarben, Field Club and Old Market neighborhoods, with a shortcut available for a seven-mile ride.
The start and finish location is the Lewis and Clark Landing on the downtown riverfront. The band Playing with Fire will entertain the crowd before the event. A free bike corral for bicycle storage will be available during the concert.
With a non-competitive format, riders of all ages and skill levels can participate. Colleagues, friends and families are encouraged to form teams for the event.
Register online. The cost is:
- $25 per rider; $50 per family (for online registrations by July 14); and
- $35 per rider; $70 family (for onsite registration on July 17). Payments should be made with cash or check only.
