UNMC ranked among top 40 academic workplaces

UNMC makes impressive gain of 32 spots in prestigious national ranking

The University of Nebraska Medical Center is among the top 40 places to work in U.S. academia, according to TheScientist.com.

Results from a survey of faculty and staff at academic institutions around the nation show that UNMC ranked No. 39, up 32 spots from its No. 71 ranking in 2009.

"We’re always pleased to be highly-ranked by these surveys that allow open-ended responses from our faculty and staff," said UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D. "This survey reflects the progress the campus has made in all facets and is an indicator that our employees are becoming exceptionally satisfied with their work at the medical center."

The survey results were based on questions regarding:
·                     Job satisfaction;
·                     Peers
·                     Infrastructure and environment;
·                     Research resources;
·                     Pay;
·                     Management and policies;
·                     Teaching and mentoring; and
·                     Tenure and promotion.

Other institutions on the list include Princeton University, the National Institutes of Health and Yale University.

Earlier this year, UNMC ranked No. 39 in another survey on TheScientist.com on the best places to work for postdocs https://www.unmc.edu/newsroom/2010/03/24/unmc-among-top-40-best-workplaces-for-postdocs/.
