CVS Caremark to contact NU’s Walgreens users

CVS Caremark will soon contact employees with University of Nebraska health care coverage who have filled prescriptions at a Walgreens pharmacy within the last three months to provide a list of local alternative in-network pharmacies.

CVS Caremark — the prescription drug coverage provider in the university health coverage plan — will do this in response to Walgreen’s announcement that it will no longer honor CVS Caremark coverage effective July 9.

HRAs and no generic co-pays

Employees who completed the Wellstream Health Risk Assessment can obtain generic drugs through Caremark’s mail-in program at no cost to the insured. If you are unsure if you completed the HRA, call the UNMC Benefits Office at 559-4340 or 559-5911.

CVS Caremark also will provide simple instructions for transferring prescriptions to a participating pharmacy in the CVS Caremark retail network.

Employees are not required to fill prescriptions at a CVS pharmacy. CVS is one of approximately 57,000 Caremark retail pharmacy network locations available for Caremark customers. The pharmacy on the second floor of the Durham Outpatient Center Atrium is part of the CVS Caremark network.

Employees also can review the Nebraska and Iowa pharmacies in the CVS Caremark network on the university benefits website.
