UNMC LINK to launch May 13

picture disc.UNMC LINK — a new group for dynamic and energetic medical center employees who want to link UNMC to the community — will launch next week.

UNMC LINK participants will have opportunities for networking, career development and involvement in engaging the greater Omaha community.

Different events will be held each month for UNMC LINK participants including social, networking, professional development and philanthropy events.

“This is a great idea and an exciting opportunity for UNMC employees to network among themselves as well as to advance UNMC’s presence in the community,” said Bob Bartee, vice chancellor for public relations.

UNMC LINK also will partner with different career development groups from other companies such as Union Pacific, Mutual of Omaha and OPPD.

UNMC LINK goals

  • Establish a relationship with other career development groups in Omaha
  • Establish a presence with new employees
  • Continue to participate in community philanthropy events
  • Increase UNMC attendance at the Omaha Chamber of Commerce 2011 Young Professional Summit

A kick-off event will be held on May 13 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Sorrell Center’s Linder Reading Room. Light refreshments will be provided.

UNMC LINK advocates will be on hand to discuss the proposed organizational goals and objectives.

Some upcoming scheduled events also will be highlighted. To RSVP for the launch event or for more information about UNMC LINK, contact unmclink@unmc.edu.

A survey will be conducted at the launch event to discover interests, needs and participation preferences to guide in developing programming and activities for UNMC LINK for the remainder of 2010 and 2011.
