Events to highlight lymphoma awareness

Two separate events will be held next week to raise awareness about lymphoma.

On Friday, April 23, the UNMC Department of Hematology/Oncology will host a luncheon in honor of current patients and survivors of lymphoma.

The Lymphoma Survivor’s Celebration and Care Appreciation Reunion starts at 11:45 a.m. and will feature presentations by 22-year lymphoma survivor David Aresty and Ann St. John, founder of the Team Zachary effort to find a cure.

Julie Vose, M.D., Neumann M. and Mildred E. Harris Professorial Chair and chief of the section of hematology/oncology, will reflect on the more than 20 years of lymphoma treatment and where research is taking patients in the future.

On Saturday, April 24, the Lymphoma Research Foundation will host the first Nebraska LYMPHOMAthon 5K walk at Mahoney State Park. Registration and check-in begin at 9 a.m. at the park pavilion. The walk will start at 10 a.m.

UNMC, The Nebraska Medical Center and UNMC Physicians are among the LYMPHOMAthon sponsors.
