Describe your research in laymen’s terms.
My research invites spouses to participate in cardiac rehabilitation with patients after heart surgery so the couple can work together to make healthy lifestyle changes.
How does your research contribute to science and/or health care?
My research contributes to science by testing an intervention that specifically targets marital partners as a unit, which may be more effective than current individually-oriented education strategies for short- and long-term adherence to healthy lifestyle behaviors.
Beyond grant funding, how do you measure success?
Other ways I measure success, beyond grant funding, is in being able to mentor others, both students and faculty, and to see them develop in their research expertise and achieve success by getting a manuscript accepted or obtaining funding for their research.
List three things few people know about you.
I enjoy:
- Playing the flute;
- Riding my bike; and
- Watching the Sandhill Cranes return to the Platte River every year.
