Susan M. Beidler, Ph.D., associate professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing has been selected to be inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners June 23 during the academy’s 25th national conference in Phoenix.
The program was established in 2000 to recognize nurse practitioner leaders who have made outstanding contributions to health care through clinical practice, research, education, or policy.
Dr. Beidler, a family nurse practitioner for the past 28 years, is the area coordinator of the UNMC College of Nursing family nurse practitioner graduate program and former director of the Morehead Center for Nursing Practice.
She was selected for her role in policy development and research involved with improving the care of vulnerable populations through advanced practice nursing models of care. She has been a member of the AANP since its inception and is a member of the Nebraska Nurse Practitioners and Nebraska Nurses Association. In addition, she serves on the board of directors for the National Nursing Centers Consortium and chairs the Nursing Centers Research Network.
In 1976 she earned her bachelor’s degree at Albright College in Reading, Penn and in 1981 she earned a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. In 2002 she earned a master’s degree in bioethics and a doctoral degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
