During the 2010 Richard B. Davis, M.D., Ph.D. History of Medicine Lecture on April 6, William Nichols, M.D., of the Mayo Clinic will discuss how significant discoveries in blood coagulation led to new directions in medical treatment.
Dr. Nichols, an associate professor of laboratory medicine and associate professor of medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, will start his lecture at noon in the Durham Research Center Auditorium.
The lecture is sponsored by the McGoogan Library of Medicine.
The Richard B. Davis, M.D., Ph.D. History of Medicine Lectureship aims to bring national experts to the UNMC campus to discuss the history of various scientific findings and to support special collections at the McGoogan Library, including works on the history of medicine.
The lectureship is supported through an endowed fund created by Dr. Davis and his wife, Jean.
Dr. Davis, professor emeritus of internal medicine at UNMC, has a long-standing interest in the history of medicine.
