Dr. Chambers — who earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri College of Engineering in 1967 — will receive the award in March at the college’s awards banquet.
Dr. Chambers earned his master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1970 and his medical degree from UNMC in 1973.
Dr. Chambers has:
- Endowed two scholarships for minority engineering students at Missouri;
- Been a member of the MU engineering college’s dean’s external advisory committee for about 10 years;
- Served on the college’s diversity subcommittee for about five years; and
- Recently been elected president of the Dean’s Foundation for the College of Engineering.
Dr. Chambers has been on the UNMC faculty since 1989 and served in a wide variety of high-level administrative posts, including director of medical affairs and president of the practice groups.
